PCOS ~ What blood tests to have done

What blood tests should be done to diagnose Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)?


Many doctors will require the following blood tests be done to successfully diagnose PCOS in a patient:

  • Fasting comprehensive biochemical and lipid panel;
  • 2-hour GTT with insulin levels (also called IGTT);
  • LH:FSH ratio;
  • Total testosterone;
  • DHEAS;
  • SHBG;
  • Androstenedione;
  • Prolactin and
  • TSH
